A Shell Point man is in jail after allegedly leading Beaufort police on a foot chase outside of WalMart on Friday.
Dallas Major, 30, was charged with fleeing to evade arrest, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute narcotics and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Major was arrested after an anonymous caller told police he was at the store and was wanted by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, according to a Beaufort Police Department news release.
The caller also reported a description of Major’s vehicle. Officers found that vehicle shortly before Major walked out of the store, the release said.
When they attempted to detain him, Major ran through the parking lot and onto W.K. Aston Drive, where he was stopped by Sheriff’s Office deputies.
When they searched his vehicle, officers found 2.7 pounds of marijuana, over 6 grams of suspected cocaine, an undisclosed amount of suspected morphine and ecstacy and a stolen Glock .45 handgun, the release said.
