Inmate's death under investigation at Ridgeland Correctional Institution

The Wednesday death of an inmate at the Ridgeland Correctional Institution is under investigation.

According to S.C. Department of Corrections Communications Director Stephanie Givens, her office was notified of the inmate's death but the circumstances remain unclear.

Attempts to reach Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls III to get further information were unsuccessful.
