St. Helena man charged with murder of Beaufort man reported missing in October

A St. Helena Island man has been charged with the murder of a Beaufort man reported missing in October, the Beaufort Police Department announced in a news release Friday.

Tyron Wallace, 21, was charged with the murder of Ver'mon Steve, 36, who was reported missing in Beaufort Oct. 25, the release said.

Skeletal remains found off Pea Patch Lane on St. Helena Nov. 18 were identified as Steve after DNA testing by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office forensic service lab.
