Beaufort County now offers map of delinquent tax properties

A new online, interactive map highlights the properties included on this year's Beaufort County Treasurer's Office delinquent tax sale list.

Included on the map are details about the amount of taxes due, the owner name, acreage, property value and the subdivision in which the property is located, according to a news release.

Individual delinquent properties are marked on the map with a small green bubble, but users also can search by owner name or address and can filter the map using several options.

"This is just another way the Treasurer's Office is using technology to communicate with the public," Treasurer Maria Walls said in the release. "Whether it is for a delinquent taxpayer or potential bidder, our interactive map is user-friendly and offers another outlet for data."

Delinquent properties will be sold at the county's annual tax sale auction if the owed taxes and fees are not paid before 5 p.m. Oct. 2.

This year's auction begins at 10 a.m. at the Charles Lind Brown gymnasium at 1001 Hamar Street in Beaufort. Those interested in bidding on properties must register online by noon Oct. 2.

For more information the tax sale, to register and to find other file formats for the list of delinquent properties, go to www.beaufortcountytreasurer.com.
