Starbucks will make its long-awaited debut in northern Beaufort County this week.

The national coffee retailer, at the intersection of Marsh Road and Boundary Street, is set to open Aug. 14, according to Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce president Blakely Williams. The drive-thru and cafe will be open 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Sunday. The 1,500-square-foot building faces Boundary Street and is accessible via Marsh Road.

Starbucks has considered adding a location in Beaufort for more than a decade, according to an early application to the city. Developer 303 Associations put the Starbucks project on hold during discussions about modifying the design requirements for the Boundary Street Redevelopment District. Last fall, Beaufort City Council approved more flexible design regulations to encourage development for the $28.6 million street renovation project.

The Beaufort Starbucks is the retailer's first location in northern Beaufort County. There are four locations in Bluffton and four on Hilton Head Island.
