Parade, march, documentary part of MLK Day events for Beaufort County

Several events are planned Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day:

Beaufort County Ministerial Alliance MLK parade, Beaufort: 10 a.m. parade, starts on Rodgers Street and ends at Boundary Street in Beaufort.

A closing ceremony will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the auditorium of the performing arts center at the University of South Carolina Beaufort.

Hilton Head Island's MLK Jr. Memorial Celebration: 10 a.m. march at Hilton Head Island High School, 71 Wilborn Road.

A memorial program will be at 11 a.m. and lunch at 12:30 p.m. at the high school.

At 7 p.m., All Saints Episcopal Church will show the documentary "Inequality for All" in the parish hall at 1003 Meeting St. Details: 843-681-3991

A community food drive for the holiday by the Sandalwood Food Pantry continues through Monday, with collection bins available throughout several gated communities, neighborhoods and churches. Details: 843-645-0935

Bluffton's Martin Luther King Jr. Committee events: 12:30 p.m. memorial service at Bluffton Town Hall at 20 Bridge St. The Rev. Samuel L. McPherson, former pastor of Campbell Chapel AME and founder of the celebration, will speak.

A memorial march will be at 2 p.m. and a cookout at 3 p.m. at Town Hall.
