Electronics, cash, shotguns stolen after St. Helena Island home ‘ransacked’
A St. Helena Island home was “ransacked” on Tuesday while the resident wasn’t home, according to Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
Nearly $1,500 in stolen and damaged property was reported after the victim came home to find her mattress flipped off the bed, door jam broken and her front and back doors wide open, according to a Sheriff’s Office report. Gaming consoles, games, cash and two shotguns were among the items stolen from the Capers Island area home.
Between 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., two bedrooms had been searched by thieves and emptied of the valuables, according to the report. Several drawers had been opened, a closet was found “in disarray” and a shelf had been thrown to the floor.
