Yemassee pot hole sends four motorcyclists to hospital

Four motorcyclists on three motorcycles were injured on River Road near Le Creuset Road in Yemassee on Saturday after striking a large pothole around 11:20 a.m.

One motorcyclist suffered incapacitating injuries, another suffered non-incapacitating injuries and two suffered minor injuries, South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Matt Southern said Tuesday night.

All three motorcycles were traveling north on River Road when they hit the pothole, Southern said. One went off the left side of road while the other two landed on their right sides in the roadway, he said.

All four were wearing helmets. They were transported to an area hospital for treatment, according to Southern.
