RBC Heritage crowds huge Saturday; parking moves to school complex
Large crowds on Saturday at the RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing have forced the following changes:
▪ The general spectator parking at the Coastal Discovery Museum was declared full at 1:30 p.m.
Spectators were being routed to the Hilton Head Island public schools complex off William Hilton Parkway, where shuttle service was available to Harbour Town in Sea Pines.
▪ The Coligny Beach and Coligny Plaza parking lots were full at 12:30 p.m.
▪ Two windows were opened at the ticket booth at the tournament gate at the Harbour Town clubhouse. At mid-day, fans still had waits estimated at 20 minutes.
Tournament director Steve Wilmot cited the clear skies and strong leaderboard.
“We’re doing what we can,” he said. “But when most people decide to come at the same time, this can happen.”
The tournament had record ticket sales prior to Saturday.
