A month of crime at Beaufort County’s Walmarts

Not a week went by in December 2015 without at least three crime reports filed at Beaufort County’s two Walmarts.

The two stores, located at 350 Robert Smalls Pkwy. in Beaufort and 25 Pembroke Dr. in Hilton Head, are the top two places in the entire county where the most crime reports were written in 2014, according to an Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette analysis.

Here is a look at just a month of reports filed at the two stores by the Beaufort Police and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Offfice.

Week of December 1

12/1 - 11:43 a.m.: Overnight burglary reported at Beaufort location.

12/1 - 3 p.m.: Shoplifting call at Beaufort location.

12/3 - 2:15 p.m.: Robbery at Beaufort location. Woman says boyfriend stole cash from her while two were shopping.

12/4 - 2:15 p.m.: Trespassing call at Beaufort location.

12/5 - 1:30 a.m.: Shoplifting call at Beaufort location. Items taken: $238 portable DVD player and $2.50 food item.

Week of December 6

12/6 - 4:08 p.m. Shoplifting call at Hilton Head location. Items taken: $140 of crab meat.

12/10 - 2 p.m.: Report of employee at Hilton Head location not ringing up all purchases made by a co-worker, including a steam mop, foam football, shower cleaner and chicken drumsticks totaling about $63.

12/11 - 7:45 p.m.: Shoplifting call at Beaufort location. Man walked out of store wearing $35 pair of shoes he did not purchase.

12/12 - 12:25 p.m.: Report of customer threatening to shoot security employee at Beaufort location.

Week of December 13

12/13 - 11:30 a.m.: Shoplifting call at Beaufort location. Items taken: $110 worth of clothing.

12-17 - 4:15 p.m.: Reports of customer threatening to commit suicide at Beaufort location.

12/17 -7:50 p.m.: Shoplifting call at Beaufort location. Items taken: $124 worth of clothes.

12/19 - unknown time: Employee reports car break-in at Beaufort location.

Week of December 20

12/21- 2 p.m.: Shoplifting call at Beaufort location. Items taken: $1.29 soda.

12/21- 5:20 p.m.: Shoplifting call at Beaufort location. items taken: Toy, bedding and headphones worth $211.

12/21 - 6:17 p.m.: Report of stolen license plate found at Beaufort location while investigating a shoplifting case.

12/23 - 11:30 a.m.: Shoplifting call at Beaufort location. Items taken: $28 worth of oysters.

12/23 - 2:58 p.m.: Shoplifting call at Hilton Head location. Items taken: Cosmetics.

12/24 - 1:30 p.m.: Reports of thefts from two motor vehicles at the Beaufort location.

12/24 - 3:15 p.m.: Shoplifting call at the Beaufort location. Items taken: $109 worth of clothes.

12/26 - 11 a.m.: Shoplifting call at Beaufort location. Items taken: $42 phone case.

12/29 - 9:10 a.m.: Shoplifting call at Beaufort location. Items taken: 19 miscellaneous items.

Week of December 27

12/31 - 8:50 a.m.: Shoplifting call at Beaufort location ($89 DVD player) and report of assault and battery after confrontation with store security.

12/31 - 10:55a.m.: Shoplifting call at Hilton Head location. Items taken: Man left store without paying for two boxes of Huggies diapers stored under his shopping cart at the checkout, totaling about $70.

12/31 - 12:40 p.m.: Report of theft at Beaufort location of $100 camera.
