Bluffton's DuBois Park to undergo renovations
DuBois Park in Old Town Bluffton will remain open during July while improvement work occurs on the park, according to the town.
Construction was scheduled to begin Monday and will be completed by the end of the month at the park at 67 Lawrence St., the town said.
Sections of the park, however, will be closed for public safety during construction.
The contractor for the project, The Greenery Inc., will add new landscaping and walkways, as well as improve the irrigation system and lighting. Benches and additional fencing also will be added.
The irrigation improvements include using an all-natural pest control product consisting of cedar oil, which is made by Greenbug Inc., a graduate of the Don Ryan Center for Innovation, a business incubator the town of Bluffton has formed with Clemson University.
The S.C. Department of Transportation is scheduled to reduce the speed limit on Boundary Street, which runs by the park, from 30 mph to 25 mph and will install new signs indicating the change, the release said.
