State names part of I-95 after slain trooper
S.C. Highway Patrol Trooper 1st Class Bruce Smalls was responding to a call of an erratic driver during a 1985 traffic stop on Interstate 95. As Smalls, 30, walked up to the motor home, he was shot six times by driver Richard Johnson, who was executed for the crime. Smalls’ family and others attended a ceremony Friday dedicating to him a portion of I-95 that runs through Jasper County.
