Blanchard & Calhoun Commercial plans to build luxury apartments in Bluffton\'s Hampton Lake area and would surround this complex of buildings that would house amenities for the residents. Submitted

Up to 300 high-end apartments will be coming to Hampton Lake in Bluffton as part of a new plan by Blanchard & Calhoun Commercial.

Though not officially announced, the project will be the company's first residential community in Beaufort County among a series of mixed-use developments it has planned at Shelter Cove Towne Centre, Buckwalter Place and in the Coligny district.

The new complex will include a dozen smaller, individual apartment buildings overlooking the lake just off Bluffton Parkway and be connected by more than 10 miles of trails and walkways, CEO Vic Mills said.

A community and amenities center will anchor the campus with a clubhouse, fitness and yoga center, activity space and a pool with a disappearing edge overlooking the lake, senior vice president John Lee said. Docks will dot the side of the lake for launching kayaks and canoes, Mills added.

"The site we've been able to acquire is on the main body of water so we have tremendous waterfront views," Mills said. "We're going to do a very expansive amenity package. It will be very special, like something you've never seen before."

Formal plans have not been submitted to the town for consideration but will be finished later this year, company leaders said.
