Roy's Aquarium is up for sale, but owner Roy Rivers says that doesn't mean he's closing shop.

Instead, it's time to move and expand, he said.

The building at 1221 Ribaut Road in Beaufort is up for sale and being listed with Cindy Young Real Estate.

Rivers said he has an acre and a half of property in the area near IHOP, where he wants to build a newer, larger store.

Roy's Aquarium has been in business for more than 40 years and sells a variety of pet-related items, in addition to fish and some other small animals.

Goods include food, toys, cages and more unusual pets such as ferrets and reptiles.

Roy's son Dewey said customers shouldn't worry that the store will close since the move will not occur until after the building is sold so work can begin on a new facility.

Roy Rivers said the current location has about 3,500 square feet of space and he'd like to see the new one at about 5,000 square feet.
