Get your trays ready: A Cook Out is coming to Hilton Head

A Cook Out restaurant will soon open in the old KFC building at 101 Central Ave. on Hilton Head Island.

The North Carolina-based fast-food chain, known for its American-style backyard barbecue menu, is set to open mid-August, according to Randy Kirkman, an agent for American Modular Technologies, which is handling the renovation.

With a completely restructured kitchen and accessible drive-thru, the Hilton Head location means burger connoisseurs will no longer have to drive 30 miles to Pooler or Savannah, where the nearest Cook Outs are.

The Hilton Head Cook Out, though, won’t feature the restaurant’s familiar neon sign, which does not adhere to the town’s notoriously restrictive aesthetic.

The restaurant has such a wide assortment of entrees, sides and milkshake flavors that the menu could overwhelm the average indecisive customer in the drive-thru. There are several styles of burgers, hot dogs, pork barbecue and chicken sandwiches. There are quesadillas and hush puppies. And it’s possibly the only restaurant where you can get a corn dog as a side with your burger.

Listings for available store manager positions have already been posted to Indeed.com and a coming soon address has been added to the official Cook Out restaurant locator on the company’s website.
