A well-known restaurant in Old Town Bluffton is moving out after only seven weeks at a new address. The Sippin Cow, formerly The Sippin Cow at Pepper's Old Town, is no longer at 1255 May River Road, according to owner Christy Pinski. The Sippin Cow's last day of operation at that address was Sept. 13. Pinski said she is seeking a new location for her restaurant. When asked why she was relocating, Pinski said on Tuesday that she needed to speak to her attorney before giving more information. Attempts to contact her Wednesday were unsuccessful."When we transitioned from our original location in July, it was with full expectations that this would be our permanent home," reads a post from Monday on The Sippin Cow's Facebook page. "Unfortunately, it was not to be."The Sippin Cow merged with Pepper's Old Town on July 23. Previously, the restaurant was an independent establishment down the street at 1230 May River Road, where it had been for more than 14 years.Pepper's Old Town has undergone myriad changes since its original opening as Pepper's Porch in 1996. Roberts Vaux, a Bluffton lawyer, operated the restaurant until the early 2000s. The restaurant changed ownership several times, but Vaux retained ownership of the land.Pepper's Porch became Jack's Old Town for three months last year under the ownership of John Cherol and Lori Bogda. Jack's closed in October 2014, with Cherol, Vaux and Tyler Goldsmith coming on board as owners in late 2014 to revamp the original Pepper's restaurant, renaming it Pepper's Old Town. The 1.3-acre lot includes the restaurant, the Devil's Elbow bar and Bluffton Ice Cream Co.Attempts to reach Vaux, who remains owner of the property, were unsuccessful.
