Cut fiber in Okatie causes Hargray outage
A cut fiber in Okatie has caused a Hargray Communications serviceoutage in Beaufort and Jasper counties, according a companyrepresentative.
Parts of Beaufort, Bluffton, Hardeeville and Okatie are affected,Hargray marketing director Eddie Andrews said.
Service was restored by 10 p.m. Wednesday, he said.
The underground fiber was severed by a construction crew working onS.C. 170, outside the back gate of Sun City-Hilton Head. He declinedto say what company was responsible.
"As a professional courtesy we want to make sure we have all the factsbefore we talk about that," Andrews said.
