‘Jewels and Jeans’ set for Saturday on Hilton Head

The Foundation for Educational Excellence will hold its annual fundraising event “Jewels and Jeans” this weekend.

The event, which benefits Beaufort County Schools, is from 6-9:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Country Club of Hilton Head.

This year’s event will recognize Narendra Sharma.

Sharma, who retired after a 30-year career at the World Bank, founded the Neighborhood Outreach Connection in 2008.

The organization works to help the poor and vulnerable through educational programs, health services and workforce development.

Sharma will receive the “Peggy May Inspiration Award” at the event.

Established in 2007 to support Beaufort County schools, the foundation supports student enrichment activities and projects through grants and other programs.
