Beaufort Symphony Orchestra to move to Sea Island Presbyterian Church
The Beaufort Symphony Orchestra's 2014-15 season will begin in October in a new home, Sea Island Presbyterian Church at 81 Lady's Island Drive, Beaufort.
For 28 years, the orchestra has been at the University of South Carolina Beaufort Center for the Arts, but the group has outgrown that space, symphony board president Ed Like said in a news release. The new location will allow the entire orchestra to be on stage, "something we haven't been able to do for a while," Like said.
The church will offer a "theater in the round" setting with unobstructed views of the stage. There's are about 500 seats at the church, which is able to accommodate the hearing impaired and has more seating for those in wheelchairs. Details: www.beaufortorchestra.org
