Tennis tournament raises $5,000 for homeless animals
The Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center helped raise more than $5,000 for homeless animals on Hilton Head Island last month during the Paws and Balls Team Tennis Challenge.
The event, which ran from May 15-17, benefitted the Hilton Head Humane Association and was won by team Lunatic Lisa, which accumulated 175 games in two days. The competition welcomed men's and women's singles, as well as doubles and mixed play.
"This was an unbelievable group of great people, who were so enthusiastic not only for the friendly competition, but to make a significant difference for the animals," Franny Gerthoffer, executive director of the Hilton Head Humane Association, said in a news release.
"We are humbled and grateful to everyone involved and look forward to 2016."
