Van Der Meer hosting USTA Southern Level 1A tournament for 12s, 14s

Van Der Meer Tennis is hosting a USTA Southern Level 1A tournament this weekend featuring more than 230 of the top 12-under and 14-under boys and girls players in the Southeastern United States.

All of the competitors, including Sayda Hernandez, a standout at Hilton Head Island High School, are ranked in the USTA's Southern section, encompassing North and South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana.

Doubles play starts Friday and play continues through Monday.

Matches will take place at host Van Der Meer Shipyard, the Van Der Meer Tennis Center, Palmetto Dunes and Chaplin Park. Finals will be held at Van Der Meer Shipyard.

The event is free and open to the public.
