2 more Hilton Head Island combo doubles teams win USTA state championships Sunday
Two more Hilton Head Island teams won titles on Sunday during the USTA S.C. Combo Doubles State League Championships.
One Hilton Head Island USTA captain even became a state champion for the second time this weekend. Mark Anders, whose 55-and-over division team won a state title Saturday, won another Sunday with his 40-and-over team.
“It’s just about putting together the right guys who like to have fun and enjoy the game,” Anders told the USTA. “They gelled at the right time.”
Also winning a title was Hilton Head Island’s 18 and Over 9.5 Women team, captained by Michelle Clark.
The five-day USTA championships conclude Monday with play in the 18 and over division. In all, 220 teams from four age groups – 18 and over, 40 and over, 55 and over and 65 and over – have competed during the championships.
