Two double titles decided on Day 2 of Van Der Meer Junior Classic
Two doubles championships were determined Saturday in the Van Der Meer Junior Classic.
Colten Lavery and Trevor White beat Hunter Benefield and Lleyton Dacuba, 8-2, to win the Boys 16 title, while Liam Beckler and Gabriel Lezcano topped William Alford and Thor Pullon, 8-1, to win the Boys 12 crown.
In other action, several top seeds went down on the tournament's second day of play.
In the quarterfinals of the Boys 14 singles draw Zachary Dacuba knocked off top-seeded Garrett Kozar, 6-2, 6-1. But Dacuba was knocked off himself by Cleeve Harper, 6-0, 6-1, in the semifinals.
And in the quarterfinals of the Girls 18 singles draw, Hilton Head Christian Academy's Madison Dillon eliminated top-seeded Alexandra Burak, a senior at Hilton Head Prep.
Dillon will face Olga Zavarotnaya in Sunday's semifinals.
In the Boys 18 doubles draw, both of the top-seeded duos bit the dust in the semifinals.
Aaron Sklizovic and Alex Sklizovic beat second-seeded Michael Mills and Aaron Newland, 8-3, while Adam Kush and Michal Rapsik beat top-seeded Cameron Clark and Steven De Vincentis, 9-8(1).
