Tennis notebook, July 14: Palmetto Dunes named one of world's best tennis resorts
A local tennis club has been named one of the world's best.
Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort was No. 10 on TennisResortsOnline.com's list of the world's best resorts and camps. The Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center was named the fourth-best location for tennis instruction and programming, fourth for best children's programming and fifth in pro shop.
"It's wonderful recognition to be named to this list nearly every year, demonstrating the consistent quality of our facilities, programming and staff over the last 30 years," John Kerr, the resort's director of tennis, said in a press release.
The rankings are based on reviews submitted to TennisResortsOnline.com, and incorporate both on- and off-court amenities and services.
Last month, Palmetto Dunes cemented an agreement to host three United States Tennis Association -- South Carolina adult-level state tournaments in 2015 and 2016. It will be the host site of three tournaments in the fall: the USTA Tennis On Campus Fall Invitational held Oct. 12 through 14, the USTA S.C. Adult Combo Doubles Championships held Oct. 16 through 20 and the USTA S.C. 65's & 70's & Over State Championships held Nov. 6 through 10.
