Fripp Island Annual Memorial Day Kingfish Tournament kicks off season

The Memorial Day Weekend kicks off the tournament fishing season with the Fripp Island Annual Memorial Day Kingfish Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

The tournament starts Friday night with registration and the captains meeting at from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a Lowcountry cookout.

Fishing starts at sunrise Saturday and weigh-ins close at 6 p.m. followed by an awards ceremony. A 90 percent payout of all entries will be awarded for largest and second-largest kingfish and the largest dolphin, wahoo, Spanish and cobia.

Live entertainment is planned for after the tournament.
