Fripp Island’s annual kids’ fishing tournament returns Friday
Youngsters and their parents are invited to compete in the 19th annual Fripp Island Kids’ Fishing Tournament, a day-after-Thanksgiving tradition at the Fripp Island Marina.
The tournament annually draws more than 150 entrants, with no entry fees and plenty of prizes for the largest trout, bass, flounder, black drum and other categories. Fishing begins at 8 a.m. and winds up at 3 p.m., followed by an awards ceremony.
Open to kids 3 to 15, accompanied by an adult, competitors may fish from a boat, the marina’s southern dock – a one-day-only privilege – or private fishing hole. Entrants need to bring their own rod, reel, tackle and a life jacket.
Free hamburgers, hot dogs and ice cream will be available for the kids. For more information, call the Fripp Island Marina at 843-838-1517.
