The Carolina Panthers have cut linebacker/edge rusher Azur Kamara ahead of rookie minicamp, the team announced Wednesday.

Before the announcement, the Panthers had 93 players signed to their roster. Carolina must cut two more players and get the roster down to 90 before the start of rookie minicamp, which begins Friday.

The Panthers claimed Kamara off waivers from the Cowboys last December for depth. He played in nine games last season, but none for Carolina. He finished with three tackles.

Adding depth, or a potential starting edge rusher, remains one of the Carolina’s biggest priorities this offseason.

Rookie minicamp begins Friday and lasts through Sunday. Carolina drafted six players and signed 13 undrafted players last week.

The Panthers released those rookies’ jersey numbers Wednesday morning.

Among the notable numbers are first-round draft pick Ikem Ekwonu, who will wear No. 79, and third-round draft pick Matt Corral, who will wear No. 9.

Panthers rookie jersey numbers

OT Ikem Ekwonu - No. 79

QB Matt Corral - No. 9

LB Brandon Smith - No. 40

DE Amare Barno - No. 46

OL Cade Mays - No. 64

CB Kalon Barnes - No. 35
