Sheriff releases video of a suspect in NASCAR driver Greg Biffle house break-in
Update: On Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, Iredell County sheriff’s spokesperson Dara St. John told the Observer that sheriff’s investigators have “received lots of tips from the public that detectives are currently looking into,” and their investigation continues.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday released surveillance video and photos of a suspect in the Jan. 7 break-in at Greg Biffle’s Lake Norman home.
The NASCAR dirver was killed with his wife, their two children and three others in a Dec. 18 plane crash at the Statesville Regional Airport.
The family lived on Doolie Road in Mooresville, along a cove of the lake near Lake Norman High School.
Their home was broken into around 11 p.m., according to a sheriff’s office news release.
The suspect spent “an extended amount of time inside the home” and stole $30,000 in cash, NASCAR memorabilia and two Glock handguns, sheriff’s officials said.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call the sheriff’s criminal investigations division at 704-878-3180.
