Coca-Cola 600 weekend: Fan days, drivers and races around Charlotte

Coca-Cola 600 week is here, bringing NASCAR’s best to Charlotte.

It’s the 66th running of the Cup Series’ longest race in the home of stock car auto racing, and this week several race shops are opening their doors to fans.

From Mooresville to Concord, NASCAR headquarters are hosting driver appearances, autograph sessions, live podcast recordings, giveaways and more ahead of Sunday’s Memorial Day weekend showcase at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Here’s your guide to the weekend’s festivities around Charlotte:

Where to go and who to see

Thursday

JR Motorsports Fan Day (8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.): JRM is hosting a full day that includes live tapings of Bless Your ’Hardt and Door Bumper Clear, autograph sessions and more at the team’s shop in Mooresville. Scheduled appearances include Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kelley Earnhardt Miller, Wyatt Miller, and drivers Connor Zilisch, Carson Kvapil, Justin Allgaier, Sammy Smith, Connor Hall and Caden Kvapil.

Hyak Motorsports Fan Day (1-4 p.m.): Hyak Motorsports will have a pet adoption fair with the Lake Norman Animal Shelter, hauler tours, product giveaways and an autograph session with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. from 1–2 p.m. in Harrisburg.

Front Row Motorsports Fan Day (noon-4 p.m.): Fans can begin receiving wristbands, first-come, first-served, at 9 a.m. for an autograph session at 2 p.m. FRM’s open house will include appearances from Todd Gilliland, Noah Gragson, Zane Smith, Layne Riggs and Chandler Smith.

Spire Motorsports Fan Day (10 a.m.-noon): There’s a “Spire-o-Kart” tournament at the Spire race shop in Mooresville. The team store opens at 9 a.m., an hour-long autograph session begins at 10 a.m. before five lucky fans will compete against 11 drivers in four qualifying races, vying for a golden remote-controlled Mario Kart. Participating drivers include Justin Haley, Michael McDowell, Carson Hocevar, Rajah Caruth, Corey Day, Andres Perez and Tristan McKee.

Haas Factory Team Fan Day (2-2:45 p.m.): Cole Custer, Sam Mayer and Sheldon Creed will sign autographs in Kannapolis — no wristbands required.

NASCAR Night at the Ballpark (6:30 p.m.): Wrap up your day at Atrium Health Ballpark, where Ty Dillon will throw out the first pitch before the Cannon Ballers play the Columbia Fireflies.

Friday

RFK Racing Fan Day (9 a.m.-2 p.m.): Brad Keselowski will be signing autographs starting at 9 a.m., followed by Chris Buescher and Ryan Preece. There will be tours of the race shop in Concord, food trucks, iRacing simulators, and announcements are anticipated.

Hendrick Motorsports Fan Fest (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.): Friday also marks the start of Hendrick Motorsports’ two-day Fan Fest with appearances from team drivers and NASCAR legends Jeff Gordon and Chad Knaus. Enjoy food trucks, kids’ activities, and more on campus.

Saturday

Hendrick Motorsports Fan Fest (8 a.m. – 1 p.m.): The action continues into Saturday morning with another round of driver appearances and family-friendly fun on the Hendrick campus. William Byron, Chase Elliott, Alex Bowman and Corey Day will host autograph sessions (Kyle Larson will be in Indianapolis and fans can win signed pieces of his memorabilia).

Traffic tips and fan resources

The N.C. Department of Transportation is preparing for increased traffic on Interstate 85, U.S. 29, N.C. 49, and Bruton Smith Boulevard.Motorists are advised to use U.S. 29 and the following routes:

From South Carolina: Take I-77 north to the I-485 outer loop (Exit 1B) to U.S. 29 north (Exit 32) or N.C. 49 north (Exit 33).

From west of Charlotte: Take I-85 north to I-485 (Exit 30) and follow I-485 to U.S. 29 north. An alternate route is I-85 north to Poplar Tent Road (Exit 52) to Pitts School Road to U.S. 29 south.

From east of Charlotte: Take the I-485 outer loop to U.S. 29 north (Exit 32) or N.C. 49 north (Exit 33).

From north of Charlotte: Take I-85 south to George W. Liles Parkway (Exit 54) to U.S. 29 south.

Tickets for all Coca-Cola 600 weekend events are available at charlottemotorspeedway.com or by calling 1-800-455-FANS (3267). Kids 12 and under can get in all weekend for just $10.

On-track schedule at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Friday: The ARCA Menards Series race is at 6 p.m., followed by Craftsman Truck Series race at 8:30 p.m. Later, rock cover band Hairball performs on BetMGM Speed Street.

Saturday: The Xfinity Series race starts at 4:30 p.m., preceded by Cup Series cars hitting the track at 2:40 p.m. to qualify for the Coke 600. Smash Mouth and Tim Dugger take the stage at night.

Sunday: Old Dominion has the pre-race infield concert, and the Coke 600 gets underway at 6 p.m.
