Bluffton in spotlight as WHHI unveils fall football lineup

Bluffton will be featured five times and Hilton Head potentially three when WHHI-TV presents another season of area high school football starting later this month.

The Covert Aire High School Football Bowl Series will begin Aug. 26 when the new May River program visits Bluffton in the first of two meetings of the new crosstown rivals.

The Bobcats, early favorites in the reclassified Region 8-3A, also are featured in three of the next four weeks. Battery Creek is scheduled twice, the only other school guaranteed multiple appearances.

WHHI has gone to flexible scheduling for the final two Fridays, with two options each week based on playoff possibilities.

Games are taped for airing at 10 a.m. Saturdays, 11 a.m. Sundays and 8 p.m. Tuesdays. They will also replay each night at midnight.

Bob Stevens (play-by-play) and Chuck Zapiec (color) will call the games once again, with Mike Covert reporting from the sideline.

WHHI is found on Hargray Channel 8 and Channel 418 HD, Time Warner Cable Channel 3 and Channel 1230 HD and WHHITV.com.
