Incoming May River football coach Rodney Summers will conduct a meet-and-greet session Saturday for all prospective players, parents and community members, starting at 10:30 a.m. at McCracken Middle School.

The Sharks will play their inaugural season this fall when May River opens its doors as Beaufort County’s newest high school. The team will compete in Class 3-A in South Carolina’s new five-tier alignment that begins next year.

Summers comes from Westwood High in Blythewood, where he also launched that program in 2012 and took the Redhawks to the playoffs three times in four seasons. He compiled a 29-19 record at the school, including 9-4 last season.

Summers already has helped to launch Facebook (May River Football) and Instagram (@mayriverfootball) pages for the new program.
