Beaufort loses to Orangeburg-Wilkinson at home, 27-21
The Beaufort Eagles ran out of time Friday night, losing to Orangeburg-Wilkinson 27-21 at home.
Omar Cummings scored with about 3 minutes left on a 31-yard run.
"The most unbelievable run I've ever seen in my life," Beaufort head coach Mark Clifford said.
The Eagles (4-5, 1-3) burned their timeouts and forced the Bruins to punt, but started from their own 16.
"That's just tough for our offense," Clifford said.
The Eagles' early miscues -- two fumbles inside the O-W 10 and a pick-6, all in the first half -- put them in a 13-0 halftime hole.
Wyatt Sherpensky scored a second-half touchdown on a 9-yard run, but may have been lost for the season with a broken collarbone.
The winner of Beaufort's game next Friday at Berkeley (3-6, 1-3) will make the playoffs, according to Clifford.
