Vote for the IPBG High School Football Player of the Week for Week 5
Area high school football fans have the opportunity to cast their vote for The Island Packet/Beaufort Gazette High School Football Player of the Week for Week 5.
This week’s candidates are:
Hilton Head Island Christian Academy quarterback Ryan Barrett passed for 462 yards and seven touchdowns and had a go-ahead 75-yard interception return for a touchdown in the win over Bethesda Academy.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville running back/wide receiver Gavin Bush returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown, rushed 13 times for 156 yards an a touchdown and had a 9-yard touchdown reception in the win over Battery Creek.
Hilton Head Island wide receiver/running back DeAngelo Clark had eight carries for 72 yards and the game-winning 22-yard touchdown run and two catches for 12 yards in the win over Bluffton.
Hilton Head Christian Academy running back Chris Edwards rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns and 254 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Hilton Head Island linebacker Thomas Farrell had 16 tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks in the 12-7 win over Bluffton. He also placed three of his five punts inside the 10-yard-line.
Beaufort High running back Wyatt Sherpensky rushed for more than 100 yards and two second-half scores in a win at Manning.
Whale Branch running back Stephon Eugene had 18 carries for 123 yards and two scored in the win over Windsor Forest.
The fans’ vote will count as one of the five votes tallied, joining sports editor Mike McCombs, assistant sports editor Stephen Fastenau, sports reporter Kendall Salter and copy editor Barry Haapala.
The winner will be announced during Thursday’s IPBG High School Football podcast.
