HS Football Roundup: Hilton Head Island wins Bridge Bowl. May River cruises

The sixth week of high school football action is in the books. Here is a look at how area public and private school teams fared on Friday night:

Hilton Head Island 38, Bluffton 28: Quarterback Derrick Raniszewski rushed for two touchdowns and threw one as the Seahawks defeated the Bobcats for the second straight year.

Raniszewski was 8-of-13 passing for 217 yards. Jayvin Risher and Thaddeus Czarnacki each had TD runs for HHI. Czarnacki led the Seahawks with 15 tackles and three pass break-ups.

Jeremiah Walters was HHI’s top receiver with three catches for 106 yards and a TD.

Bluffton quarterback Aedan McCarthy threw for 123 yards, two touchdowns and also rushed for 135 yards and a score. Lucas Gates and Carnell Warren had TD catches.

May River 38, Georgetown 0: Sean Mitchell ran for three touchdowns and also caught a TD pass from Luc Tran in the Sharks’ win.

Justin Head added a TD run for May River.

Battery Creek 28, Whale Branch 14: Eddie Heyward had a pair of touchdown runs in the Dolphins’ win over the Warriors.

Lajaivion Samuels added a TD on a reverse and Tyjuan Simmons also had a TD run for Battery Creek.

Quarterback Jermon Bowers threw a TD pass to Takim Person and also ran one in for Whale Branch.

Ridgeland 16, Hardeeville 0: Ridgeland won its second straight games and defeated its rival.

Ridgeland got a pair of defensive touchdowns from Jayden Henderson and Javar Nunes, who each returned for fumbles for scores. Palaal Crawford led the team with 113 yards rushing.

Pinewood Prep 56, Hilton Head Christian 21: Silas Brawner threw for 268 yards and five touchdowns in Pinewood’s win.

Lavoris Lucas and Jayden Alexander each had two TD catches for Pinewood Prep. Pinewood scored 56 points in the first half. Grayson Salego added a TD run.

Reid McCollum had three TD passes for Hilton Head Christian.

John Paul II at St. John’s Christian, ppd: The game was canceled because of poor field conditions because of rain.

Colleton Prep 14, Beaufort Academy 0: The game was suspended at halftime because of weather.
