4 new teams join Carolinas Top 25 rankings of the best prep football teams in two states

As we near the midway point of the high school football season, four new teams enter the Carolinas Top 25 poll of the best teams in North and South Carolina.

The rankings are sponsored by McClatchy media companies throughout the Carolinas.

This week, Weddington, from the Charlotte area, holds onto the top spot, followed by S.C. power Dutch Fork, and three of the top five teams are from South Carolina.

In total 13 of the 25 teams are from South Carolina, including three of the four new teams:

River Bluff (6-0), from Lexington, S.C., joins the poll at No. 20. Rock Hill’s South Pointe High (4-2) is in at No. 24. And Belton Honea Path (6-1), from Honea Path, is in at No. 25.

The lone new N.C. team is Winston-Salem’s Mount Tabor High (4-2), which is No. 23 this week.
