The votes are in, and Hardeeville running back/defensive back Louis Gadson wins the vote for The Island Packet’s High School Football Player of the Week.

The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun. Congrats to all the nominees.

This Week’s Player of Week nominees

Wyatt Butler, WR/CB, Hilton Head Prep: Senior had go-ahead interception for touchdown as the Dolphins rallied from 13-0 down to snap their 25-game losing streak with a win over St. Andrew’s.

Will Codding, LB, Beaufort: Senior had 11 tackles (one for loss) against Fort Dorchester.

Louis Gadson, RB/WR/DB, Hardeeville: Sophomore carried it 13 times for 220 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Bethune-Bowman.

Joshua Gibson, Thomas Heyward: Junior returned two kickoffs for touchdowns and had four tackles on defense in the win over Bethesda Academy.

Andrew Massey, S/OLB, Hilton Head Island: Sophomore had 10 tackles, two for loss, an interception, two fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown in win over Stall.

Aedan McCarthy, QB, Bluffton: Junior was 14-of-20 passing for 281 yards and six touchdowns, and also rushed for 36 yards, in a win over Whale Branch.

Reid McCollum, QB, Hilton Head Christian: Junior threw for 156 yards, rushed for 122 with two touchdowns in win over Battery Creek.

Wenson “MJ” Smith, RB, Ridgeland: Senior carried it nine times for 181 yards, had three catches for 56 yards with three total touchdowns in a win over Eau Claire.

Hudson Tanner, DB/K/P, May River: Junior had four tackles, two for loss, a sack, interception and had one punt for 36 yards.
