Beaufort football rolls in playoff opener. Thomas Heyward, Beaufort Academy advance

Beaufort had no trouble moving on in the SC High School League football playoffs on Friday.

Quarterback Samari Bonds threw three touchdowns and ran for another in the Eagles’ 52-0 win over Orangeburg-Wilkinson in the Class 3A playoffs.

Beaufort will host Crestwood next week.

Bonds was 7-of-11 passing for 110 yards, three touchdowns and also rushed for 59 yards. Running back Kacy Fields carried it 20 times for 168 yards and two touchdowns.

Colton Phares led the Eagles with three catches for 78 yards and two touchdowns.

Bluffton 49, Westwood 20

The Bobcats scored the final 29 points of the game to advance in the Class 4A playoffs.

Bluffton will travel to No. 1 South Florence next week.

Myrtle Beach 24, May River 21

Tristan McGee hit Jake Doty on a 10-yard pass on fourth-and goal with 2:40 left to help Myrtle Beach past May River in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.

The Sharks got inside the Myrtle Beach 40 yard line on the final possession but turned it over on downs.

May River led 21-10 with 5:03 left in the third quarter but the Seahawks scored the final two touchdowns of the game.

Jaiden Davis had two touchdown runs for May River and Garrett Diemel also had one.

Beaufort Academy 36, Orangeburg Prep 23

Jsxen Porter and Devonte Green had big nights as the Eagles moved on in the SCISA 2A playoffs.

BA will face Colleton Prep next week in the semifinals. The Eagles defeated Colleton, 20-19, on Oct. 21.

Thomas Heyward 42, Dorchester Academy 13

The Rebels opened the postseason in search of another championship with a victory in the SCISA Class A playoffs.

THA will take on Calhoun Academy next week in the semifinals.

Florence Christian 43, Hilton Head Christian 36

Juels Huntley scored the go-ahead touchdown with 35 seconds left and then had the game-ending interception as Florence Christian knocked off defending state champion Hilton Head Christian in the SCISA 3A playoffs.

Huntley finished with 286 yards rushing.

Hilton Head Christian trailed 36-29 with 10:02 left but Dylan Clark hit Mason Bedenbaugh on a 3-yard TD pass to tie at 36 with 5:40 left. Clark had two TD passes and three TD runs for HHCA.

But Huntley and FC answered with a 26-yard run with less than a minute left.

Gilbert 49, Battery Creek 0

Alias Graham-Woodberry and Jaden Allen Hendrix each had two touchdowns in the Indians’ victory. Gilbert will host Manning in the second round next week.

Drake Braddock and Chance Jennings each had TD passes for the Indians, who led 42-0 at halftime.

Lake View 43, Whale Branch 21

Kason Herlong threw two touchdowns and Marvin Gordon also had two scores in Lake View’s win over Whale Branch in the Class A playoffs.

Wilson Hall 35, John Paul II 8

The Warriors were eliminated from the SCISA 2A playoffs.
