Football roundup: Hilton Head Christian wins matchup of area SCISA powerhouses

Quarterback Dylan Clark accounted for five touchdowns to help Hilton Head Christian to a 33-24 win over Thomas Heyward on Friday in a matchup of SCISA powerhouse programs.

The game was a showdown featuring last year’s state champions. Hilton Head Christian won the SCISA 2A title last year and Thomas Heyward won the Class A crown.

Clark ran for two scores and had TD passes to Isiah Anderson and Jayden Turner to help the Eagles to a 25-6 halftime lead.

Anthony Fripp and Dietrich Shuford had TD runs for Thomas Heyward and Shuford also threw a TD pass.

Fripp’s TD run cut the Eagles lead to 33-24 with 3:20 left. But the Eagles stopped the Rebels on the two-point conversion.

Beaufort 37, Battery Creek 7

The Eagles scored touchdowns on all three phases in the win over the Dolphins on Saturday.

Kacy Fields ran for two Beaufort TDs and the Eagles als scored on defense and special teams. Colton Phares returned a punt for a TD in the first half to make it 13-7. Dom Camacho made it 27-7 by returning an interception for a score..

Will Keyserling recovered a fumble in the end zone for the other Beaufort TD.

Battery Creek led it 7-0 in the first quarter on a run by Kendall McMillion.

Hilton Head Island 19, Colleton County 0

Troy Timko rushed for 158 yards and a TD as the Seahawks picked up their first region win of the season.

KJ Holland added a rushing TD and Carter Saleeby kicked two field goals for HHI.

John Paul II 35, Hilton Head Prep 7

Christian Tilton rushed for 278 yards and three touchdowns as the Warriors defeated region rival Hilton Head Prep.

Tony Hill and Alex Mercer also had TD runs for the Warriors.

Estill 28, Whale Branch 7

Estill followed up its win over top-ranked Bamberg-Ehrhardt by defeating another top-10 opponent.

Jamaris Miller, Xaviar Garvin and Angelo Lewis all had TD runs for Estill. The Gators also had a defensive touchdown.

Keith Chisholm scored the Warriors’ touchdown.

Lucy Beckham 22, Bluffton 14

Jaylin Linder had a pair of touchdowns in the Bobcats’ home loss to Lucy Beckham.

James Island 34, May River 7

Wushi Ravenel caught two TD passes to help James Island to a region win over May River.

Junior Maxwell added two touchdown runs while Jaden Jones, Amor Scott and also had touchdowns for the Islanders.

Williamsburg Academy 47, Beaufort Academy 14

Teague Ward rushed for 228 yards and four touchdowns and also had an interception return for a score to help Williamsburg to a 6-0 start

Williamsburg QB Conrad Baylor passed for 125 yards and a touchdown.
