Bluffton, Beaufort Academy football teams notch season-opening victories
The Bluffton football team gave coach Hayden Gregory a win in his first game Friday night.
The game was delayed by weather and didn’t finish until after midnight.
Jamauri Simmons, Roderick Buxton, Jaylin Linder, Michael Fritz and Brandon Bryant all had touchdowns for the Bobcats.
Beaufort Academy 41, Pinewood Prep 20
Beaufort Academy jumped out to a 22-0 lead in the first quarter and went on to defeat Pinewood to win its season opener.
Estill 30, Ridgeland-Hardeeville 20
The Jaguars dropped their opener on Friday night.
Bethesda 8, Hilton Head Prep 7
The Dolphins dropped their opener in a low-scoring game.
All the points were scored in the first half.
New Hempstead 47, May River 27
Pauly Seely threw four touchdown passes to lead New Hampstead (Ga.) over the Sharks on Thursday night.
Darrion Perry led May River with three touchdown runs, including one late in the second quarter to put the Sharks up 14-12 at halftime.
Hilton Head-Battery Creek postponed
The Hilton Head-Battery Creek game was postponed on Friday and will be played Saturday.
Beaufort-Cane Bay canceled
Beaufort’s opener at Cane Bay was canceled because of weather on Friday night.
