Braufort Academy football coach Scott Richards has resigned after four seasons at the school.

Beaufort Academy football coach Scott Richards is stepping down after four seasons, the school announced Wednesday.

Beaufort Academy Athletic Director Neal McCarty called the parting mutual and mainly based on Richards’ work schedule. Richards led the Eagles to back-to-back playoff appearances in SCISA 8-man the past two years.

Beaufort Academy won the school’s first playoff game this year against Holly Hill before losing to Wardlaw Academy.

“Coach Richards and I both came on board at the same time; it’s been a pleasure working with coach and truly appreciate everything he has done for our school and football program,” McCarty said. “I have a feeling that he will still be involved in some capacity.”

McCarty said the school will begin an immediate search for Richards’ successor and any interested candidates can contact him at nmccarty@beaufortacademy.org or (843) 524-3393 ext. 240.
