4 Thomas Heyward players head local contingent at SCISA All-Stars

Brett Mixson and Blake Bannon, who accounted for two-thirds of Thomas Heyward’s receiving totals this season, head a quartet of Rebels selected for next weekend’s SCISA North/South All-Star Football Game in North Charleston.

Nine area players were selected for Saturday’s doubleheader at Northwood Academy, and Thomas Heyward coach Nic Shuford also was named as part of the South coaching staff.

Justin Davis, who was THA’s leading tackler, and lineman Trey Shaffer completed the Thomas Heyward contingent representing the South. John Paul II receiver Karl Johnson also made the roster.

Hilton Head Prep running back Rodney Sturgis was named to the North roster, along with Hilton Head Christian receiver James Bartholomew.

Beaufort Academy had two players selected for the 8-Man All-Star Game, with linemen Justin Massalon and James Carden joining the South roster.
