Rebels return to winning ways, can grab share of region title
Logan Thomas threw for two touchdowns and Caleb Tufts and for two more as Thomas Heyward won for the fourth time in its past five outings, a 28-14 victory Friday night over Palmetto Christian.
Thomas completed 11 of 13 passes on the evening for 115 yards, hitting Blake Bannon with a 9-yard touchdown pass and Will Weaver on a 14-yard score. Thomas also completed a pair of 2-point conversion passes for the Rebels (5-3).
Bret Mixson caught five of Thomas’ passes for 70 yards, while Tufts finished with 85 yards rushing to go with his pair of first-half TD runs. The Rebels’ defense also had a goal-line stand as Palmetto Christian threatened in the fourth quarter.
The Rebels improved to 3-1 against SCISA regional foes, and can win a share of the division title in next week’s home showdown against leaders Colleton Prep.
