Season-high point total not enough to lift John Paul II to victory

HiltonHead

Rashad Battiste ran for three touchdowns as John Paul II set a season high in scoring, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Golden Warriors from remaining winless Tuesday evening with a 53-28 loss to Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach.

Nyleem Wright scored the Golden Warriors’ other touchdown on a quarterback keeper, and hooked up with Karl Johnson on several key passes that kept drives going. The JP2 defense, though, struggled to keep the Saints out of the end zone.

Christian Academy scored four times in the second quarter to grab control, leading 32-14 at halftime and adding two more TDs in the third period.

The Golden Warriors’ 28 points topped their previous season best, when they scored 21 in the season opener against Hilton Head Christian.

“Offensively and the special teams continue to show steady improvement,” JP2 coach Kevin Wald said.

The Golden Warriors (0-8) will have just 72 hours to recover before their next contest, hitting the road on Friday for a trip to Colleton Prep.
