Troubled special teams bring down Hilton Head Christian
A 201-yard rushing performance by Zach Doe wasn't enough to overcome special-teams mistakes Friday night, losing 42-13 to Northwood Academy in a SCISA Region 1-2A contest.
The Eagles gave up two Northwood punt returns for touchdowns in suffering their fourth consecutive loss since an opening win over John Paul II. The Chargers scored another TD off a fumbled punt snap that was scooped up and taken to the end zone.
Doe scored both Hilton Head Christian touchdowns, coming among 25 carries for the night. Dargan Cherry completed just three of 14 passes as the Eagles struggled on third downs.
Craig Oliver led the HHCA defense with six tackles, while Cole Webster and Ben Vlijac added four tackles apiece.
