The Dolphins defense, meantime, held JP2 to just 34 yards total offense. ... Palmetto Christian had won two straight before last week’s loss, largely unable to slow down a strong Colleton Prep rushing attack. ... EXTRA POINTS: The contest begins SCISA region play for Thomas Heyward, which has won each of its past five region openers. The Rebels also are unbeaten in four meetings against Calhoun Academy. ... THA struggled to get its defense off the field last week, giving up 438 rushing yards that included three TD runs of at least 50 yards. ... Calhoun Academy, the reigning SCISA Class 2A champion, amassed 369 yards of offense in last week’s win, with 178 yards passing from QB Caleb Crosby.

EXTRA POINTS: Northside Christian, located in Lexington, is playing its first varsity season and needed just two games to notch its first victory. Newberry Academy was the victim. ... Beaufort Academy seeks to avoid its first 0-4 start since the 2008 campaign, when the Eagles were in their second varsity season and wound up 1-9. ... The Eagles are averaging 28 points per game but need to figure out how to make a few more defensive stops. BA has yet to allow fewer than 38 points in any contest.
