8 area basketball players selected for SCISA all-star events
Hilton Head Christian’s Ziaria Doe, named the top player in SCISA Class 2-A Region IV, and Thomas Heyward Academy’s Sydney Glassberg head a list of eight Lowcountry players named to SCISA all-star basketball games.
Doe and Glassberg were selected for an Class 2-A “Team SCISA” that will take on an all-star team from Georgia’s independent schools March 15 in Augusta.
Six others are set to play in SCISA’s North-South All-Star showcase Saturday in Sumter.
Freshman Jossie Frazier, who joined Doe in leading the HHCA girls back to the Class 2-A semifinals, was named to the division’s South team along with Thomas Heyward’s Jamie Davis.
HHCA also had one selection to the boys’ Class 2-A South squad, where Jamareon Clark will be joined by Hilton Head Prep’s Mac Orie.
Beaufort Academy supplied two players to the Class 1-A South teams, with Sissy Mungin selected for the girls’ contest and Kevin Williams for the boys.
Doe was a unanimous selection as Region IV Player of the Year, following a season in which she averaged 23.4 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.7 steals. THA’s Glassberg improved her ability to create her own shot, raising her scoring average to 18 points per outing.
