HHCA’s Ziaria Doe named region player of the year
Hilton Head Christian’s Ziaria Doe was a unanimous selection as SCISA’s Class 2-A Region IV Player of the Year, heading a trio of Eagles named to the all-region team Monday.
Doe was easily the region’s dominant player this season, averaging 23.4 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.7 steals in leading HHCA to the Class 2-A quarterfinals, where a Monday night game awaited against R.E. Lee.
The senior scored 19 points in the Eagles’ opening playoff win over Marlboro Academy last Friday.
HHCA freshman Jossie Frazier and eighth-grader Brielle McCarthy joined Doe on the all-region team, which also featured three players from Thomas Heyward Academy and one each from Hilton Head Prep and Beaufort Academy.
Hilton Head Christian and Beaufort Academy, both anticipating boys’ quarterfinal games Tuesday night, each placed two players on that all-region team.
