High school roundup, Feb. 20: Battery Creek girls move on
Battery Creek defeated Lee Central, 46-35, in the second round of the Class 2-A playoffs on Friday.
Leading scorers for the Dolphins were Taquasia Lampkin with 16 points and Brianna Tolbert with 15.
The Dolphins will play Round 3 on Tuesday night.
SCISAA GIRLS PLAYOFFS
Hilton Head Christian Academy 49, Marlboro Academy 28: Zi Doe and Brielle McCarthy each had 19 points to lead the Eagles to the first-round Class 2-A victory.
HHCA (21-6) plays Robert E. Lee on Monday at 8pm at the Sumter Exhibition Center.
R.E. Lee Academy 46, Hilton Head Prep 39: The Dolphins (10-13) fell in the first round of the playoffs at the Sumter Civic Center.
Prep led at the half 17-13, but were down by one after three quarters 29-28. The Lady Dolphins could not get the lead back in the fourth as Lee Academy girls made 11 of 14 free throws down the stretch.
Junior Catherine Sheehan led the Dolphins with 16 points, while 8th-grader Kierstin Clark had seven points and three assists and 9th-grader Olivia Light finished with six points and seven rebounds.
