Ridgeland-Hardeeville girls slip out of playoffs with loss
Just when the Ridgeland-Hardeeville girls basketball team appeared to have overcome whatever shooting malaise afflicted it early Friday night, the relapse came at the worst possible time.
The Lady Jaguars were eliminated from the Class 2-A playoffs with a 48-43 loss to Dillon, which limited them to just four field goals in the final quarter to end a 15-game winning streak.
After trailing by as many as 16 in the first half, Ridgeland-Hardeeville finally found its shooting touch to take a 32-31 lead into the final quarter. But Dillon opened the period by scoring eight of the first nine points, forcing the Lady Jaguars (19-3) to scramble the rest of the way.
Khamele Manning scored seven of her 13 points in the final quarter to lead the Wildcats, which also got seven from Kia Bell in the fourth.
Ny’Jay Boozer led all scorers with 17 points for Ridgeland-Hardeeville, with six coming in the final quarter. Que Drayton and Jamee Mack added six points apiece.
