8 area high school basketball teams will see playoff action Friday
Six area teams survived first round of the S.C. High School League basketball playoffs, and four of them will continue play on Friday night.
In the Class 3-A boys bracket, the resurgent Beaufort Eagles and All-State center Matt Garay will host Wilson.
In 2-A girls, the No. 2-ranked Ridgeland-Hardeeville Jaguars and All-State senior Ny’Jae Boozer will host Dillon as they look to force a rematch with Bishop england, who knocked them out last year.
Battery Creek’s girls will hit the road in the second round and play at Lee Central, while Whale Branch, an upset winner in the first round, will travel to Mullins.
In SCISAA, four area girls teams — Hilton Head Christian, Hilton Head Prep, Thomas Heyward Academy and Beaufort Academy — will open play in the state tournament in Sumter. The Eagles of HHCA will be a No. 1 seed.
